Thousands have Iftar at Ramadan tents

Thousands of workers gathered at huge Iftar tents on the first day of Ramadan, set up by Sheikh Thani bin Abdullah Foundation for Humanitarian Services (RAF) across the country. Iftar meals included juices, dates, laban, water in addition to meals consisting of rice mixed with chicken or mutton.

“Today, we distributed 2,500 Iftar meals to fasting workers because the tent was not ready to host them,” a representative of RAF at Asian Town told The Peninsula.

“We are pretty sure, the tent will be ready tomorrow and we will open it by 4pm whereby the workers can can enjoy their iftar meals in comfortable environment. We will also organise a religious programme in the language of workers,” he added.

Community restaurants in Asian Town are offering attractive packages of Iftar and Suhoor meals to fasting people during the holy month of Ramadan. The offers include buffet, home-delivery and monthly packages at discount prices for individuals and families, The Peninsula has observed.

Over a dozen eateries operating in a food court behind Grand Mall in Asian Town are offering traditional dishes of Iftar and Suhoor to their respective community members hailing from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Philippines among others.
