Festival City lines up events in run-up to Garangao celebration

Doha Festival City, the largest entertainment, retail and hospitality destination in Qatar, managed and operated by Al-Futtaim, treated children of all ages to a cookie decorating event where they got a chance to get creative and design their own.
Over the course of three days, hundreds of children had the chance to play expert with their very own chef’s hat and apron, as they adorned cookies in the shape of Ommi Dolls and Camels. Cookies were decorated to be taken away as gifts too.
Doha Festival City is honouring the biggest traditional celebration for children this Ramadan with a fun-packed Garangao event on June 9, from 8.30pm to midnight at the Centre Court. First, kids, between four and 12, will be given their own mall maps that will give them clues to find and collect candy and nuts all over Doha Festival City. They can then also take part in the Drum-Making Workshop – where everyone will have the chance to design and build their own drum, made out of recycled tin containers. The event is free of charge.
The Joy of Craft-Making event is scheduled from June 15 to 17, from 8.30pm to midnight for children between four and 12 at the Centre Court. Whether it’s Prayer Mat-Making, Money Box-Making, Ommi Doll Colouring and Ramadan Cards, there are four different workshops to take part. This event is also free of charge.
For the last five days of Ramadan, and in celebration of Eid al-Fitr, there will be professional henna artists designing beautiful henna art on guests. Children will also have the opportunity to handcraft their own henna designs on printed paper.
Being the national bird and symbol of culture, guests will also have the chance to have their photo taken with a falcon at Doha Festival City.
