FC Barcelona have expressed gratitude to Qatar for its sponsorship of the Spanish giants since the 2010/11 season, QNA reports.
Speaking to the media, club spokesman Josep Vives said FC Barcelona was “grateful” to Qatar Foundation and Qatar Airways for being “excellent sponsors” of the club. “They have been sponsors who have acted properly, who have fulfilled their obligations, and who have helped FC Barcelona in a reasonable and significant way,” Vives said. The spokesman also said negotiations are under way to finalise a sponsorship agreement with Qatar Airways that would make it the official airline of the club. “We are holding talks with Qatar Airways. The official airline sponsorship is a product that exists, and it is one that the club is selling.” Vives concluded by expressing the club’s hope for “peace and harmony to be restored” in the Gulf region. “We are speaking from the heart; beyond any other considerations or geopolitical interests.” Qatar Airways’ sponsorship of Barcelona expires by the end of June as the Catalan club agreed a new deal with a Japanese firm.
