The temperature soared to 48C in the country yesterday and similar scorching conditions are likely today as well, with a maximum of 47C forecast in Doha and some other places. The Qatar Met department has also said strong winds are expected in parts of the country by the afternoon, while windy conditions and high seas will prevail in offshore areas. In its detailed forecast for today, the weather office has said it will be “very hot and dry” during the day, and slight to blowing dust is also expected at times. Slightly dusty conditions are likely offshore, too, where the sea level may rise to 10ft before falling by late in the night. The wind speed may reach 27 knots in some places inshore by the afternoon and 32 knots offshore at times. A maximum temperature of 47C is expected in Doha, Al Khor, Mesaieed and Wakrah today. Yesterday, the maximum was 48C in Mesaieed and Al Rayyan, while in Doha it was 46C.
