On the occasion of the Holy month of Ramadan, Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels (SWBH), the five-star designer collection of boutique hotels, organised various activities at La Piazza restaurant in Al Bidaa Boutique hotel to celebrate the traditional festival of Garangao.

The Garangao night marks the breaking of the fast on the 14th night of Ramadan, and sees kids get dressed up in colourful and traditional Qatari clothes, while carrying a bag around town to collect candies from houses in the neighbourhood.

Sheer delight was on the faces of children and guests who attended the event, where SWBH held a festive evening to celebrate this important part of Qatari heritage in the Holy Month of Ramadan. The kids enjoyed multiple activities such as balloon twisting, face painting, Pinata and Henna Tattoos. All the kids took commemorative photos at the allocated booth specially designed for this occasion and left with nuts and candy bags whereas the guests left with special prizes.

“Garangao is a traditional national festivity held annually in mid-Ramadan. Exclusive to the Arabian Gulf, this event is a unique occasion for people of all ages every year, as it allows them to participate and keep their customs and traditions alive, and draws a big smile on the children’s faces” said Meeaad Abdul Razzagh Mohammed, Senior Communications and Media Officer at Souq Waqif Boutique Hotels.

“We are very keen to share Garangao celebrations with children and guests for the joy it brings to them and we are delighted that every year more kids show up at our hotels to be part of the Garangao night festivities, encouraging us to provide an unforgettable family experience,” she concluded.
