The total value of Qatar’s non-oil exports in April 2017  reached QR 1.33 billion compared to QR 1.83 billion in March, recording a decrease of 27.3 %  and to QR 1.63 billion in April 2016 recording a decrease of 18.4%, the monthly report of Qatar Chamber on the foreign trade of the private sector published on Tuesday shows.

The report, which was prepared based on certificates of origin issued by Qatar Chamber’s Research & Studies Dept. and Member Affairs Dept. last April, pointed out that non-oil exports were distributed to about  61 countries compared to 58 in March.

About 47.8 % of these exports were received by the GCC, while the Arab countries  (Excluding GCC states) received 32.8%.

Industrial gases topped the non-oil exports followed by aluminum alloys, bars and molds, chemical fertilizers, steel veins and lotrene. Exports also included polyethylene, flour, detergents and plastic rolls, pipes and bags.

According to the report, the total volume of non-oil exports during the first four months of 2017 reached QR 6.27 billion.

The Qatari exports went to a total of 61 countries in April , including 17 Arab countries and GCC , 12 European countries including Turkey, 10 Asian countries (except Arab countries),  17 African countries (excluding Arab countries)  and 4 countries of North and South Americas in addition to Australia, the report said.

The report pointed out that industry sector still topped the non-oil exports in April. This significantly shows the great development and its increasing contribution in the GDP among other no-oil sectors.

Commenting on the report, Qatar Chamber Director General Saleh bin Hamad Al Sharqi affirmed the importance of these statistics that manifest the volume of foreign trade and other economic rations saying: “ These figures work as a mirror that reflects the actual reality of one of the most important aspects of our economy which is foreign trade,”

Qatar Chamber is keen on issuing these statistics data which are of great advantage to those who are interested in economic activity, he added.

These figures significantly reflect to the growing spread of destinations receiving Qatar goods, he said, noting that these exports don’t include the oil exports.
