Austria has banned the use of full-face veils or burqa in public from October 2017, an official source at the Department of Consular Affairs of the Foreign Ministry said.
The decision stipulates a fine of €150. In addition, the violator will be interrogated at a police station and asked not to wear the burqa again in order to avoid further punishment.
The source added that Qatari citizens and accompanying personnel who wish to travel to Austria after the decision comes into force must abide by it.
