The Qatar Chamber took part in the 20th Arab-German Business Forum and the meetings of the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce held in Berlin in order to strengthening economic relations and increase cooperation between businessmen from both sides.
The meetings dealt with the latest developments in the Arab-German economic relations along with various topics such as manufacturing and technology transfer, impact of falling oil prices, education and development, environment and sustainability, infrastructure and the role of women entrepreneurs and economic diversification.
HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber said that the Arab-German relations have witnessed a great development in recent years, stressing keenness of the two parties to expand economic and trade cooperation.
The trade balance between the two sides has exceeded 52 billion Euros while the Arab investments in Germany amounted to about 100 billion euros, he added.
He stressed the keenness of the Qatar Chamber to enhance trade cooperation with the German side by exchanging visits, encouraging alliances between Qatari and German companies and exploring investment opportunities available in Qatar and Germany to enable businessmen in both countries to exploit them to build projects that offer added value to the economies of both countries.
HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, highlighted the size of Qatari investments in Germany, which include vital projects in the automotive, information technology and banking sectors, stressing that there is a common desire to promote and develop mutual investments between the two countries in the coming period.
Germany is an important partner for the State of Qatar and is the strongest German economy on the European continent, he said, pointing out that the projects of the FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar have attracted many German companies. About 200 German companies are operating in the Qatari market, he went on saying.
The forum brought together more than 600 decision-makers and businessmen from the Arab and German sides which discussed strengthening and expanding Arab-German economic relations and provided a framework for establishing a network of contacts between businessmen from both sides.
