Qatar BCI hosts forum on business continuity & resiliency in telecom

The Qatar BCI Forum hosted the May Forum meeting on the theme “Business Continuity & Resiliency in Telecommunications”. Several professionals from key sectors like banking, petrochemicals, education, energy, healthcare, warehouse & logistics,telecommunications, and media network attended the event.
Addressing the event, Abdullatif Ali Alyafei, Executive Director of UDC & Chairperson of the BCI Qatar Forum Organizing Committee shared the exemplary efforts by the Qatar BCI Forum in uplifting the cause of Business Continuity in the State of Qatar and providing a common platform to all BCM Professionals in the country to synergize their efforts and good practices. He also shared brief details of the post April event activity and the upcoming Middle East bci Awards night in September 2017. In addition,  Al-Yafei announced the launch of the social media accounts i.e. Twitter, Instagram, Linked and Facebook.
Shaik Abdulkader presented a very interactive session on “Resilience in Telecom Industry”. He is currently associated with Vodafone Qatar as Chief Technology Security Officer (CTSO) and carries enriching experience of over 20 years in Cybersecurity with a wide range of leadership and technical roles in most challenging environments across the globe. His session provided an overview of Telecommunications importance in improving quality of human life, and insights of how Telecom globally maintain high-level of resiliency when failure occurs due to internal, 3rd party events and external events.
The Forum members also heard a very informative session on “Resilience and Business Continuity” from Mr. Deniz Ozkaya, ERM Director at Ooredoo Qatar whose responsibilities include implementation of the Business Continuity Management framework across the organization. He provided a high level overview of Ooredoo Qatar’s “Resilience and Business Continuity” initiative which has commenced in 2012 as one of the strategic programs for the organization.
