Monthly expenses rise during Ramadan and summer vacation

The monthly expenditure of residents in Qatar rises from 25 to 35 percent during the holy month of Ramadan, Eid and summer vacation, said the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, yesterday.
Qatari families pay 10 percent of their income for purchasing food items while expats pay more than 15 percent on buying food items. The Ministry has asked people to make list of items before they go for shopping.
It has urged people to follow daily the promotion through newspapers and ads, and also to check list of items whose prices are reduced under the recently launched initiative of the Ministry.
The Ministry said that consumer behaviour changes during Ramadan, and the markets witness more demand. It has stressed that families must not waste their money by buying unnecessary items.
The Ministry advised shoppers to stock necessary food items such as rice, sugar and cooking oil in advance to avoid crowd in the hypermarkets. People should spend more time on worship rather than going out for shopping.
