Ministry of Municipality and Environment Announces Plan for Public Hygiene during Ramadan

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment announced a plan for public hygiene during the holy month of Ramadan, focusing on the main sites, commercial streets, entertainment areas, the Corniche and the Central Market.
Director of Public Hygiene Department at the Ministry Safar Mubarak Al Shafi said that the Department pays special attention to the holy month of Ramadan because of the nature of consuming during this month where the quantity and quality of food waste increases from the rest of the year by up to 30%, which necessitates the provision of large numbers of containers and organizing the work of service cars around the clock.
The Ministry called upon the citizens and residents to contribute to the success of this plan through their cooperation and commitment in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Environmental and Municipal Studies Center at the Ministry launched an integrated training program for the Ministry’s staff in cooperation with its Environmental Operations Department and the Training Institute at the Ministry of Interior under the slogan “Occupational Health and Safety”.
The program is aimed at all employees of the ministry without exception and at various stages until the end of this year through the attention to safety and occupational health of employees, providing safe working environments free from accidents, injuries or occupational diseases.
Director of the Environmental and Municipal Studies Center Dr. Mohammed Saif Al Kuwari said that 125 employees will be trained by occupational health and safety specialists during the first phase, adding that Center aims to train 5,000 employees by 2020.
He noted that the Center aims through this program to protect the Ministry’s employees from injuries caused by the hazards of the work environment, based on sound and objective technical planning. (QNA)
