Malaysia’s International Reserves Up to $97.3 Billion

Malaysia’s central bank Bank Negara said Monday that its international reserves amounted to 430.5 billion ringgit (97.3 billion US dollars) as of May 15.

The international reserves of $97.3 billion were 1.25% higher when compared with $96.1 billion as at April 28, 2017.The international reserves were consisted of $90.7 billion in foreign currency reserves, $800 million in International Monetary Fund (IMF) Reserves Position, $1.1 billion in Special Drawing Rights (SDRs), $1.6 billion in gold and $3.1 billion in other reserves assets.

Its reserves position is sufficient to finance 7.8 months of retained imports and is 1.1 times the short-term external debt.
