Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) successfully held its third employee engagement event at Aspire Dome recently, under the theme ‘Together We Can’. The one-day event attracted over 1,000 employees from AZF and its member organisations of Aspire Academy, Aspetar and Aspire Logistics.
The event saw employees come together to take part in a range of recreational group activities aimed at reinforcing team-work and honing leadership skills which were all developed in line with AZF’s six ‘Aspire’ way values: Accountability, Synergy & teamwork, Professionalism, Integration, Respect and Excellence.
The event forms part of AZF’s innovative “Fayez” initiative, which was launched in December 2014 to provide support and motivation to all AZF employees. This is to enhance their performance, as well as to increase their productivity and workplace achievements. This event highlights AZF’s ongoing efforts to realise its vision of becoming the reference for sports excellence worldwide by 2020.
A number of AZF’s senior management attended the event and took part in a range of the activities with fellow colleagues, including Hilal Jeham Al Kuwari, President of AZF, Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, CEO of AZF, Abdulla Nasser Al Naimi, Director General of Aspire Logistics, Dr Mohamed Ghaith Al Kuwari, Acting Director General of Aspetar, as well as Ali Salem Afifa, Deputy Director General of Aspire Academy.
Mohammed Khalifa Al Suwaidi, CEO of AZF, said: “Aspire Zone Foundation’s ‘Fayez’ initiative demonstrates the organisation’s unwavering commitment to the Qatar’s National Vision, a vision which emphasises the wellbeing of human capital to aid the country’s economic diversification towards a knowledge based economy. Qatar understands that investment in professional and human development is key to achieving the country’s goals, as does AZF. That is why we organise initiatives like Fayez and ask all of our employees to embody the values of our ‘Aspire’ way, so that we can all help play our part in helping Qatar achieve its goals.”
Al Suwaidi also stressed that organisations looking to achieve global recognition must view change as a continuous process of improvement. It is important, therefore, that employees embrace changes and view them as a positive step that can help drive the organisation forward.
AZF also launched a range of internal fundraising initiatives at the event in solidarity with people in need. The initiatives, which form part of the organisation’s ongoing CSR programme, included food basket donations, organised in cooperation with the Eid Charity Foundation, a money donation campaign, organised in cooperation with the RAF Foundation, and an awareness campaign about organ donation, organised in cooperation with Qatar Organ Donation Center (Hiba).
The Fayez initiative is a continuation of AZF’s efforts to become a sporting hub and the preferred business destination for the world’s best talent across a variety of disciplines. As such, the organisation embraces the pivotal role it plays in supporting its employees and the wider communities in Qatar.
