Q-Auto the official dealer of Audi in Qatar, hosted a “Walk in Blue” walkathon that took place on the Corniche, organised by Qatar Institution for Speech and Hearing in order to raise awareness of the autism spectrum disorder.
Mr Ahmed Shariefi, General Manager, Audi Qatar, said: “As an automotive retailer, we are proud to support both global and local campaigns in raising awareness of this disorder. By giving our staff the opportunity to take part in this initiative, we are also building understanding to support all of our customers. We are also happy to support Qatar Institution for Speech and Hearing, in order to ensure our autistic customers have smooth and enjoyable car journeys.”
World Autism Awareness Month is held every year during April worldwide, with the goal of bringing attention to autism. To mark the occasion, Audi Qatar has illuminated their social media in a blue and hosted a sponsored walk for Autism, providing Audi employees with the opportunity to interact with children with autism and their teachers, therapists and caregivers.
The family event to promote World Autism Awareness Month took place on Friday 5th April at Al Bidaa Park, from 3 PM to 6 PM. Activities were open to all families impacted by autism including, sports and other recreational activities. Educational activities that highlight the impact that this disorder can have on the individuals and their families included advice for parents and the general public as well as targeted training for healthcare professionals.
